Marooned

Since I was a young kid, I loved pirates. It was probably watching the old black and white pirate movies on Turner Classic movies and riding Pirates of the Caribbean multiple times every trip to Disney. Heck, I even watched Cutthroat Island in a theater. When I first submitted artwork to work for Disney it was story boards and character art for a Pirates of the Caribbean animated movie (about 10 years before the live action - I'm aging myself). That is probably the last time I did anything Pirate related.

There are a lot of artists that inspire the work I create and drive me to improve my own work. I want to shout out the amazing work of Bob Kehl though for triggering my desire to do some pirate themed pieces. If you haven't checked out his site you should: https://www.bobkehl.com/. Please also follow him on ArtStation if you haven't already. In this piece I pay tribute to his influence on my work with the pants and chunky belt.

This piece was a ton of work but was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it and thanks Mr. Kehl for the inspiration and all of your hard work.
